This grant aims to strengthen law enforcement and reduce poaching pressure on Ethiopias severely imperiled elephants at Babile elephant sanctuary. This is the north-eastern most population of elephants remaining in Africa, and has been reduced to only a few hundred elephants. Specific activities will include evaluating the ranger operating system, conducting basic ranger training, and establishing a more effective ranger operations strategy including a rapid response team.
